Over 300 million people worldwide have asthma, a figure that is set to increase by 100 million by 2025. Adherence to inhaled preventive asthma medication is suboptimal in >50% of people with asthma, and the Lancet Asthma Commission has called for more effective methods of addressing non-adherence. A review and meta-analysis published in the August issue of the
European Respiratory Journal addresses this point and suggests that, with adequate renumeration and integration into care, pharmacists can help improve medication adherence in asthma. Read the study
