Acute Exacerbations of Pulmonary Diseases - available now!

Guest Editors Pierre-Régis Burgel, Marco Contoli and José Luis López-Campos tackle the challenging area of acute exacerbations by separating the latest ERS Monograph into three sections: definition, severity and consequences; triggers; and treatment and prevention. Major increase in CF population predicted

In 2015, Pierre-Régis Burgel and colleagues presented a study in the European Respiratory Journal (ERJ) that predicted a 50% increase in cystic fibrosis patients by 2025 in Western Europe. This corresponded to 20% increase in children and a 75% increase in adults. In a follow-up report recently published in the August issue of the ERJ, the authors suggest that this increase may be even higher. Read the latest study here or visit erj.ersjournals.com to access the online ERJ.
