"Pulmonary Emergencies", the latest in the ERS Monograph series, is available now. Edited by Leo Heunks, Alexandre Demoule and Wolfram Windisch, it provides a comprehensive overview of pulmonary emergencies, from pneumothorax, pulmonary embolism, right heart failure and haematothorax to acute exacerbations of diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Recent developments in treatment strategies for acute pulmonary problems are also discussed in detail, with chapters on topics such as high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy, extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal and noninvasive ventilation. Anti-infectives and the Lung - available now

The new ERS Monograph provides a comprehensive up-to-date overview of the use of anti-infectives in lung diseases, with chapters covering community- and hospital-acquired pneumonia, exacerbations of asthma and COPD, TB and nontuberculous mycobacteria pulmonary disease, pleural infection and fungal diseases. Other chapters address antibiotic stewardship in the community and hospital settings, the use of antibiotics in specific patient groups, mechanisms of action and resistance, diagnostic approaches, therapeutic options and the development of new drugs.
