ERS publishes statement on benign pleural effusions in adults

The "ERS Statement on Benign Pleural Effusions in Adults" is now available in the European Respiratory Journal. The publication is accompanied by a new episode of Guidelines in Focus, in which ERS Guidelines Working Group member Dr Pieter Goeminne is joined by Statement Early Career Chair Dr Anand Sundaralingam to discuss the new statement.

Diagnosis and management of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis

The European Respiratory Society (ERS) Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis have now been published in the European Respiratory Journal. The guidelines are accompanied by a new episode of Guidelines in Focus, in which Maria Molina Molina discusses the publication with Elisabeth Bendstrup, Co-Chair of the Task force that produced the latest guidelines.

ERJ Open Research pick of the week

Hypercapnia is not excluded with normal oximetry in neuromuscular disease (NMD) patients and may be due to an elevated respiratory quotient. This has implications in the diagnosis and monitoring of respiratory insufficiency in NMD patients with oximetry alone.
