Pulmonary complications and survival after ASCT

A study published March's European Respiratory Journal has found that exposure to pneumotoxic agents before autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) increases the risk of abnormalities in pulmonary function. Although performed in a relatively small number of patients, if confirmed by future multicentre studies, these findings could affect patient assessment and management pre-transplant. Read the study here or visit erj.ersjournals.com to access the March issue.
