Passive smoking and lung cancer

Passive smoking has long since been suggested to be a risk factor for lung cancer. To date, the number of prospective studies on the relationship between passive smoking and lung cancer has been limited, and most of them have only included never-smoking women. The October issue of the European Respiratory Journal features a long-term prospective study that demonstrates a link between exposure to passive smoking in childhood and adulthood, and an increased risk of lung cancer in both men and women. Read the study here or visit erj.ersjournals.com to access other studies in the issue.
