The latest ERS Monograph on Pulmonary Rehabilitation features the clinical case of a 66-year-old man with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) who was referred for pulmonary rehabilitation following a severe episode of pneumonia complicated by an acute exacerbation of IPF. In addition to the criterion for ambulatory oxygen, the patient had a history of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes and atrial fibrillation with a permanent pacemaker.
