Controversies in COPD

The Controversies in COPD Monograph is now available. The book’s editors, Antonio Anzueto, Yvonne Heijdra and John R. Hurst, have brought together a wide-ranging selection of chapters written by leading authors in the field. The book considers where the current controversies lie, discussing areas such as screening, premature birth, asthma–COPD overlap syndrome, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care. Controversies in COPD will be of interest to both clinicians and scientists, and aims to stimulate further discussion about this diverse disease.

New ERS Monograph Editor in Chief

After 5 years as Editor in Chief of the ERS Monograph, Tobias Welte is passing the role on to Robert Bals. The European Respiratory Society (ERS) would like to take this opportunity extend its warmest thanks to Tobias for his hard work on and development of the Monograph during his mandate as Editor in Chief.

Robert Bals is the Director of the Department of Pulmonology at the University Hospital of Saarland (Homburg/Saar, Germany). He is interested in both clinical and basic sciences, and is a long-standing, active member of the ERS, having previously acted as Chair of the Airway Cell Biology and Immonpathology Group. He is also an Associate Editor of the European Respiratory Journal and Respiratory Research, bringing with him a strong understanding of scientific publishing. Welcome Robert!
