The September issue of the European Respiratory Review features an interesting series article on pulmonary hypertension (PH) as a rare but severe complication of neurofibromatosis type 1. The article suggests that as there are no data available on the efficacy of specific PH treatment, patients should be evaluated in expert centres and referred for lung transplantation at an early stage. To read this article and many others on bronchiectasis, lung cancer, noninvasive ventilation and COPD, visit err.ersjournals.com

Over 300 million people worldwide have asthma, a figure that is set to increase by 100 million by 2025. Adherence to inhaled preventive asthma medication is suboptimal in >50% of people with asthma, and the Lancet Asthma Commission has called for more effective methods of addressing non-adherence. A review and meta-analysis published in the August issue of the European Respiratory Journal addresses this point and suggests that, with adequate renumeration and integration into care, pharmacists can help improve medication adherence in asthma. We want to ensure that the ERS Monograph responds to reader need wherever possible. So we are running a survey to find out your thoughts about what we currently offer and where we can go next, particularly the topics you would like to see us cover. The survey will only take 5 minutes to complete and if you answer all the questions, you will be entered into a prize draw – one randomly selected recipient will win a print copy of a Monograph of their choice. Give us your thoughts and access the survey here. The survey closes on 30 September 2018.
