Oxygen administration: automatic versus manual

Oxygen is administered every day to a high number of patients in emergency care. However, precise control of the flow of oxygen is difficult and can be time-consuming. A multicentre study published in the July issue of the European Respiratory Journal has found that automated oxygen titration is superior to manual administration – it improves oxygen parameters, adherence to guidelines and has clinical benefits.
